support the project ]

Keep us afloat.

I built Compass Commons for free, and I will keep building it for free. There are no ads, no paywall, and no data selling. Every member is a voluntary member. If you can chip in, this is how.

where this is headed ]

Everything here was made by one person, in evenings, between other work, and it stays free. For now every member is here because they want to be, not because they paid to be.

Eventually the commons will want a supportive revenue structure of its own, something that keeps the lights on and the tools sharp without locking anyone out. Donations are the first plank of that. Chipping in now is a way of saying: build this, we are here for it.

drop a line ]

Chip in, if you can

Donations cover hosting, data costs, and the time it takes to keep this honest and current. Any amount helps, and nothing is expected. If you would rather not, that is fine too; it stays free either way.

Give by card at Brackish & Co. →

Send a note with “Compass Commons” so I know where it landed. Card gifts run through the Brackish & Co. till, which already takes cards safely, and they reach the same hands. Donations are not tax-deductible.

a different kind of investment ]

It holds up the foundation now, and comes back around later

This is not buying a product. It is a share in the groundwork: the writing down of systems for land, money, labor, and care that everyone here can use. Giving now keeps that foundational work going while none of it earns anything.

What comes back is reciprocal and in kind, as the commons grows able: access to the tools and the shared library, a hand from us when your own group finds its feet, a scholarship place, or help in kind on your own work. It is remembered, warmly, and held alongside hours and work given, which count the same.

Nothing here is a promise of a share, a seat, or a return. If a formal organization is ever formed, it stays chosen by people rather than by money.

starter scholarships ]

A hand getting started

A portion of donations goes to helping folkx who need a hand get started: a student, a small operation, a crew staring down its first filing fee. No essay, no proof-of-need gauntlet. Just tell me where you are, and what would help.

Reach out through the feedback button anywhere in the commons, or include “scholarship” in your note.

other currents ]

Money is not the only current

Share the commons with someone who would use it, send feedback when something is wrong or confusing, or tell me what you would want built next. Asking to join is its own kind of ballast.
